Weddings
I love photographing weddings, because they are so filled with life. From the
trembling voice, speaking heartfelt promises, to the happy tears of a parent wishing
all the best to a just-married daughter and her husband, its all there.
And, I am sometimes given the privilege of capturing it as photographic art!
I know how important it is, for you to look your best in the images from your
wedding, and that photography can and should be a fun, enjoyable part of your
special day. With each wedding, I have two primary goals: to create beautiful
images for you, and, to do it in such a way that you and your guests will feel
totally taken care of, and comfortable.
I like to begin by learning about your vision of how your wedding will be, which
helps me do my best work for you. If any formal portraits are desired, I will
keep the time spent on that to a minimum, while still giving full attention to
the details of creating the best possible image for you. When the portrait taking
is completed more quickly, or even prior to the ceremony, it allows you more time
to celebrate in the company of your guests.
Each moment of a wedding is unique, and a good photographer needs to be sensitive
and alert enough to know the appropriate balancing point between observing
and capturing the shot from a distance, or moving in close to capture the moment.
I find that I am continually watching the flow of events, as I photograph, so
I will be in that right place at the right time.
The Album
When the celebration is finished, and the newlywed couple come home from their
honeymoon, what tangible things do they have to remind them of the day their two
lives became one? Clearly, this is the purpose of the photographs. There are many
ways that my clients use their wedding photos, such as wall-décor, or gifts,
but the most powerful story-telling format is a finely crafted, professionally
designed album.
I devote a great deal of time and creative energy to the design and production
of each wedding book, whether it is of traditional matted or digitally designed
flush-mount style. With flush-mount books, the couple receives a proof of each
page by email, which makes the process of designing it very interactive. Some
very exciting design ideas have actually come from my clients, as we worked on
their album!
For most wedding couples, the album is the professional photographers finished
product, and I believe it should be of the highest quality possible. That is why,
after researching and using many different products, I selected Queensberry Albums,
of New Zealand and Albums Unlimited, right here in the Bay Area. Both companies
back their product with a lifetime warranty.
When you show your wedding album, by Expressive Photographics, I want people to
feel as if they had been there. If they actually were there, I want that album
to bring it all back for them, and hopefully even show them a facet of one very
special day, that they had not previously seen and felt.
Engagement Portrait
A complimentary engagement portrait is included with most of our packages. I find
that it always boosts the confidence of the couple, when they experience first-hand,
how easy it is to be in front of my camera, and see how good they look in their
pictures. The engagement session is casual, relaxed and lasts for about one hour.
Your engagement portraits can be done in any location of your choice, or allow
us to suggest a location. We also include complimentary wallet cards, which you
can use however you like. Most couples insert them into the thank-you cards for
their guests.
Viewing Your Photographs
Expressive Photographics offers easy and effective ways to view and order your
photos. Proof Magazines are included with most wedding packages, and are also
available for portrait viewing. Password-protected online hosting of your photos
makes it easy to share them with people anywhere, and is available for most portraits
and weddings. We can also create a special proof CD, which allows you to view
your proofs on a computer.
